Heather MacLeod, LICSW

Heather MacLeod is the founder of Perspectives Counseling & Consulting, LLC. Heather is experienced in working with adults of all ages, and her areas of expertise include general mental health (such as stress management, depression, and generalized anxiety) as well as bipolar disorder, and mild/moderate obsessive compulsive disorder, anger management, and elder care. Heather does not work with issues of substance use/abuse or eating disorders.

Heather also has experiencing working with clients seeking support with challenges such as communication skills, work issues, management consultation, leadership coaching, and critical incident stress management.

Heather has a thoughtful, very direct communication style, and her general approach focuses primarily on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused counseling. She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which can be extremely helpful for survivors of trauma as well as people struggling with high anxiety and other challenges.

Heather completed her Master of Social Work (MSW) at University of St. Thomas/St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and holds national certifications in Employee Assistance (CEAP) and Care Management (CCM). Heather also earned a Master of Science in Organization & Management from Capella University with a focus on Human Resources, and has more than twenty years of management and leadership experience

Outside of work, Heather loves to cook and bake, particularly for friends and colleagues (treats routinely make an appearance at her office). She also makes spoiling her fur child, Harper, a top priority.

Minneapolis location

Harper is the CNO (Chief Napping Officer) at Perspectives. Her primary responsibilities include snuggling on demand, thorough inspection of fleecy blankets and sofa pillows, and offering soft, reassuring snores during therapy sessions with Heather MacLeod at the Minneapolis location.

Caitlin Sparer, LPCC

Caitlin Sparer is experienced in working with adults of all ages, and her areas of expertise include general mental health (such as stress management, depression, and generalized anxiety) as well as chronic illness and pain, relationship issues (including codependency and violence in relationships, and trauma.

Caitlin believes that people have the ability to find purpose and live healthy lives. Utilizing a humanistic approach with cognitive behavioral techniques and allowing people to express their own narratives, she partners with clients to build on their strengths to process through intrusive thoughts and beliefs. She also believes life is meant to be lived to the fullest and, that to do so, we need to address the things that are holding us back and preventing us from thriving. She works with clients to unpack the lies, beliefs, and pain that are keeping them stuck and find new paths to their best lives.

Caitlin uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as psychodynamic and narrative approaches in counseling. She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting, and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).

Caitlin completed her Masters in Mental Health Counseling at The University of the Rockies School of Psychology in Denver, Colorado. She is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).

Caitlin an adventurer at heart. Outside of counseling, she is a first responder for both firefighting and EMS. She thrives in the outdoors - whether it’s hiking mountain trails, kayaking quiet waters, horseback riding, camping under the stars, or exploring new places. Her dogs are always part of the adventure whenever possible.
